Is a Code A and Code A1 riders licence the same?
No, a Code A1 licence allows anyone older than 16 to ride a motorcycle or scooter with an engine capacity not exceeding 125cc.
The Code A licence allows anyone 18 and older to ride a motorcycle or scooter with an engine capacity of any size. It also allows the operation of a motorcycle with a sidecar, a motortricycle and a motor quadrucycle.
Take note that if you pass the Code A Licence on a motocycle with an automatic or semi-automatic gearbox, your licence will be restricted to only riding motocycles with those gearboxes.
Passing the Code A Motorcycle Licence with a manual gearbox will allow you to use and legally ride any motorcycle with any type of gearbox.
