It equips students to be actively involved in the suppression of wildfires and apply sound fire suppression actions, based on the use of firefighting hand tools.

Course Outcomes

Identify unsafe acts and conditions and explain standard safety rules applied to overcome dangerous fire situations.
Demonstrate safety procedures in wildfire suppression situations.
Identify and explain basic characteristics of fire behaviour to enable safe and efficient fire suppression.
Extinguish wildfires using manual methods and procedures.
Verbal and hand signalled communication and instructions.
Use of water hose equipment.
