Nature Reserve General Assistant Course
A Nature/Game Reserve General Assistant performs basic field infrastructural maintenance.
Skills associated with protected areas, conservation ethics, as well as basic wildland fire fighting, combating of soil-erosion, alien invasive vegetation clearing, wildlife fencing and road maintenance are covered. Learner will also be able to make valuable contributions to community development and other community based projects.

Course Outline
Identify, explain and demonstrate safety procedures during active wildfire suppression.
Contribute to the suppression of wildfires at basic fire fighting levels.
Herbicide applicator and vegetation management.
Conduct maintenance on herbicide applicators.
Manage personal finance.

- Road and fence maintenance
Prerequisites
It is assumed that a learner entering this qualification will be competent in (*these courses can, however, be taken concurrently with the anti-poaching course if no prior learning is in place):
- Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2
