Course Outline
The programme consists of the following unit standards:
8840 – Conduct a guided nature experience in a limited geographical area
8478 – Create a guided experience for customers
Identify major living and non-living features of the natural environment in which he/she operates and interpret them at an observation level.
Create and conduct a local guided tourist experience, based on local natural and cultural resources, that entertains and informs visitors.
Practice as a tourist guide in a local area, as envisaged in the Tourism Amendment Act. A cathsseta certificate will allow the individual to register as a legal field guide with the National Department of Tourism.
Prerequisites
It is assumed that a learner entering this qualification will be competent in (*these courses can, however, be taken concurrently with the anti-poaching course if no prior learning is in place):
- Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1
Requirements
- Ability to communicate fluently in English
